Condition for parametric up converter and parametric down convertor:

  • The output frequency f0  in the idler circuit is expressed as the sum and difference of the signal frequency fs and pump frequency fp.iefo=mfp_+n fs

  1.  Iff0>fs, the device is called parametric up–converter (PUC).
